I'd appreciate it if you could correct or modify these sentences if they are unnatural and teach me another expressions so that the two sentences will sound natural. Also, needn' t I put " as the white people" after "they were the same citizens" in the sentence 1 and 2?Lastly, I'd like to know whether or not I can replace the words black South Aricans and white South Africans in the both sentences with"ones"

Supplementation: the word" ones "in the two sentences mean South Africans.
Your answe would be much appreciated and thank you in advance! 聼起來自然嗎?
A:
1. Under the policy of apartheid , the white South Africans discriminated against their black fellow citizens on the basis of race . Even though the blacks were as much of citizens as their white counterparts were, they had to face this injustice for long.

2. Black south Africans were for long segregated by the whites under apartheid even though they resided together and were a part of one and the same nation.

You can simply use "the whites" after mentioning " fellow white South Africans" once or twice.

Don't use the "white ones" as its sounds a bit absurd.

Hope this helps you! 😊
Q: Although the apartheid has ended, many still suffer prejudice. 聼起來自然嗎?
A: "Suffer from prejudice" may be better ^^
