A: I don’t know if there’s a rule because they’re all so similar! What I will say is, specific implies greater exclusion, particular a little less and certain even less. If you were talking about a group of people in front of you you might say “That particular group of people”. If you were trying to point them out you could say “That specific group of people.” If you were talking about a random group of people you could say “A certain group of people”. You can interchange them most of the time and there are only very slight differences between all of them. Hope this helps!

Yeah, they both make sense and have similar meanings. In the way your using the two words they can both be used.
Although in my opinion, I prefer the second one! ^^

I think there's not much difference. Certain is just used in more formal conversations while sure sounds very informal.

and one more difference which I think but not SURE of is:
When asking a question- "are you sure?" it sounds natural to use 'sure' but very very unnatural to use 'certain'

It depends on how commonly used the word is, which will differ for each one. For example, I hear "unprepared" a lot, but I rarely hear "unaware". So "unprepared" and "not prepared" sound almost equal to me, but not the others.
