^ delusions and hallucinations are not interchangeable terms.
Delusions refer to beliefs based on incorrect information. This is seen a lot in Psychology, so I will give a Psychology-based explanation.

Hallucinations can be visual or auditory, and they typically involve hearing/seeing things that aren’t there. For example, someone with schizophrenia has auditory hallucinations - they hear voices.

Edit: Wrote this on my phone. Cleaned up the formatting a bit.
A delusion has the connotation of somebody deceiving themselves into believing something that isn't real, usually to help them cope with a hard situation or to make themselves feel superior.
An illusion refers to a visual or mental image which is partly or completely not real or manufactured but it doesn't have the connotation of auto-deception.
For example, "The Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney creates the illusion that you're on a boat surrounded by pirates". Contrast that with "He thinks that if he believes strongly enough, his dead dog will come back to life".
