Q:
to harass 和 to bother 的差別在哪裡?
A:
To harass is a lot stronger than bother…
It might bother me that someone isn’t wearing a mask near me.
But if he was following me around without a mask, and coughing on me, and yelling….then he’s harassing me.
You can bother someone without trying….but you have to act very badly to harass someone

Q:
To harass 和 To stalk 和 To bully 的差別在哪裡?
A:
Stalking means that you actively follow somebody. You turn up in places where they are, and generally give them the impression that you are following them.
Harassment and bullying are very similar. One way in which they are distinguished these days, is that we say that members of the opposite sex harass each other, while members of the same sex bully each other. So, men harass women, boys bully boys, and so on.
But another clear distinction between them is this - harassment often means that you are trying to get somebody to do something which they don't want to do. So, there is a big problem with men trying to get women to socialise with them, when the women don't want to. This is a very well-known form of harassment. Bullying, on the other hand, is mainly directed at trying to get another person to feel bad about themselves. The type of thing the teenagers do - spreading rumours about them, calling them evil names etc

harass 和 persecute 的差別在哪裡?
A:
The 'h' is not silent in this case, no. If you harass someone you won't leave them alone. Meanwhile, you can persecute someone by for example denying them a job, you don't have to follow them around being nasty. Persecute however has an implication that you do it for a racial, gender, or such reason, where harass doesn't have any of those implications.
