It depends on where you hang-dry your clothes. Sometimes, people hang-dry their clothes inside their home. Other times, people hang-dry their clothes outside. Hang-drying clothes inside most likely won’t have a smell. It’ll probably just have the detergent smell from the washer, or it’ll smell like what your house smells like. If you hang-dry them outside, it’ll most likely smell however outside smells like. Also, for expensive clothing like suits or dresses, people usually take it to a dry-cleaner, instead of throwing it in a washing machine and dryer/hang-drying them.

A: Yes that is correct. I have not heard "mildew" used in conjunction with food. With food I have heard "mold" or "fungus".

A: Both are very common, you even hear "mold and mildew" used together.
