Q: I was thinking of naming my child Asurou. I'm a little worried that this might be reminiscent of ass.
please be honest if you have any comments.
A: I attempted to answer the other question but it has been closed so I am answering here

I understood @sleep0122 question differently.

I did not think that sleep0122 was aware that Asuro shares the same first two phonemes as "ass," because it seems to me that if words share the same phonemes, in the same order, at the beginning of the words, there will be an inevitable "reminiscence" between them. Is it appropriate to say "between them" when their beginnings are *the same*?

I have not myself been reminded of bottoms when mentioning "Ascot" but I think that is because "ass" is not a British word for bottom, only for a type of horse (ass n.1: solid ungulate quadruped beast of burden of the horse kind, but smaller and with long ears and a short mane). I wonder if Ascot became so famous as a UK horse racing venue in part due to the, again inevitable, association with horses.

I think that Americans would inevitably be reminded of bottoms because the first two phonemes, of their word for "bottom" ("ass") and "Asuro" are shared. That there are some people making the association between Ascot and ass as can be seen from Googling the two, e.g.

@sleep0122 I am not in the slightest upset by the lack of not being awarded the featured answer but I am worried by the fact that the choice of the featured answer seems to me to be a sort of "Phew, that is what I wanted to think," in response to an answer provided by someone who is not American, nor uses "ass" to mean "arse", and which encourages a decision that may be detrimental to your son.
