A: @kailin: Uhm, that's a tricky one. "I'm sorry for" is used when something is your fault. "I'm sorry for breaking your window". But "I am sorry about" is when you are sorry about something you didn't do, it just happened.

A: Sorry = when you did something that the other person did not approve of

Excuse me = few uses; when you want to be excused from something, when you bump into someone, when you want to say something to someone.

A: No real difference. There may be a slight difference in usage: "Sorry for" followed by a pronoun sounds a bit odd, e.g. "Sorry for that." sounds worse than "Sorry about that."

a - emphasizing how bad,stupid,or embarrassing something is
b-feeling sadness or sympathy because something bad has happened to someone
c - when disappointed about a situation, and wishing you could change it

Excuse me is used in these circumstances:

a - politely getting someone's attention
b - showing you are sorry for interrupting someone
c - asking someone to move so that you can get past them
d - politely telling someone you are leaving.
