A: These two sentences have basically the same meanings.

We often say “take ….” With any classes/lessons, like school or university classes, for example: “I took English and German in high school, but I ended up taking Turkish in college.” So you can say “I took taekwondo lessons for 2.5 months” in the same way.

Saying “I went to taekwondo for 2.5 months” sounds basically the same, because it’s just saying that you “went to taekwondo lessons for 2.5 months”

The first "o" is the same as in "soccer". (It's an /ɑ/ sound which you write like ア in katakana.)

✓ I’d been doing taekwondo during elementary school.

× I’ve restarted it since last year.
✓ I started again last year.

A: I started doing taekwondo.
I started taking taekwondo.

A: I did taekwondo since I was in kindergarten, but you know every Korean kid has learned tkd since they were little.

Or

I did taekwondo since I was in kindergarten, but you know every Korean kid learns tkd starting when they are little.
