A: The words "terrible" and "horrible" are basically interchangeable. They are both more extreme versions of "bad".

"This old sandwich tastes terrible."

A: Horrible is mostly used for something that caused you terror and shock. Like for example "That horror movie was horrible." While terrible is to describe something that is just really bad and awful.

A: The only difference I would suggest is that horrible is more emotional and terrible is more logical. You would be more likely describe someone who did a really technically rubbish painting as 'terrible' but if it was frightening or ugly to look at 'horrible' would be used. If I said I was bad at something I'd say I was terrible at it (its more logical than emotional). A bad person would more likely be described as horrible because they make you or others feel bad (emotional). But they're almost the same thing and anyone you spoke to would completely understand either way :)

Ex. Earthquakes are terrible because of the damage and harm they cause. (But they are not morally wrong because they are natural disasters, not purposefully caused by someone)

Something can be both horrible and terrible at the same time though. These are the technical differences, but they can be used interchangeably in daily conversation.
