Q:
I am researching the validity of U.S. patents. Today, they are valid for 20 years after approval in the US, but how many years were they valid in the 1910s? I have checked the Japanese and English versions of Wikipedia, but cannot find any reliable information on this issue. Can anyone recommend a good source on this?
A:
"The original patent term under the 1790 Patent Act was decided individually for each patent, but "not exceeding fourteen years". The 1836 Patent Act provided (in addition to the fourteen-year term) an extension "for the term of seven years from and after the expiration of the first term" in certain circumstances. In 1861 the seven-year extension was eliminated and the term changed to seventeen years. The signing of the 1994 Uruguay Round Agreements Act then changed the patent term from seventeen years from the date of issue to the current twenty years from the earliest filing date."

Q:
1. I was questioned of my validity of being there with my child in surgery.
2. I was questioned of who I was.
3. I was asked of my job history and provided a detailed description.
I've come across the sentences on the internet. I'm not sure whether they sound natural or not. I think that "of" isn't the correct preposition in those sentences and it should be changed with "on" or "about" because they doesn't make sense if re-written as below
4. He questioned me of my validity of being there with my child in surgery.
5. He questioned me of who I was.
6. He asked me of my job history and provided a detailed description.
2. I was questioned of who I was.

A:
In the sentences above 1. I was questioned of my validity of being there with my child in surgery.
2. I was questioned of who I was.
3. I was asked of my job history and provided a detailed description.
It would make more sense if you changed the "of" to either on or about like you had thought because it makes the sentences make more sense.
Like for example they could be changed to ..
1. I was questioned about my validity on being there with my child in surgery.
2. I was questioned on who I was.
3. I was asked about my job history and I provided a detailed description.

Q:
I was questioned of my validity of being there with my child in surgery. 聼起來自然嗎?
A:
@thor6odin6son6 then, how about this sentence? "I was questioned of who I was"
Q:
How long is the validity of the Ilets test? 聼起來自然嗎?
A:
If you had to replace "validity" with another word?
Q:
Could you please tell me the validity date for this letter 聼起來自然嗎?
A:
"Could you please tell me the date of validity for this letter" would sound a little more natural. 😊 or just "validity date" instead of "date of validity" would also be fine!
