I’m an American from Virginia, and currently living in Long Island, NY. I am a DLIFLC-trained French linguist and score a 3/3 on the IRL scale. I currently have issues remembering what was said after listening to a conversation that I am not actually engaged in, such as being able to summarize points of a debate, or catching what the main points were; usually due to the long winded explanations with a very short point. I would like to learn more how people actually speak, phrases, how speaking on the street goes, and to speak and understand more “native” French. I’m limited to the news and documentaries and struggle also with movies and music. I can’t understand a French movie and rarely understand anything in music.
