”I’d rather have tea than coffee” is the most casual and natural because it is easier to say. “I’d prefer to have tea to coffee” and “I’d prefer to have tea rather than coffee” are things older people would say

@therox The grammar in your middle example should be:

I’d prefer tea to coffee.

May I ask you one more question?
What is the difference between (1) and (2)?
(1) I'd prefer to go skiing this year rather than go on a beach holiday.
(2) I'd rather go skiing this year than go on a beach holiday.

@therox The second one sounds more natural because it’s unusual to use “prefer” and “rather” in the same sentence. They mean the same thing so it sounds repetitive
