有點不自然
@Nocci17injapan: In Singapore we were taught to not put 'Because' at the start of the sentence coz' it disrupts the flow. One way is to use 'Due to' or 'Owing to'. Cheers (:

Another thing, you should say that fell last night. Because if you're going to useuntil, you should say from so until.Once, you're not going to to mention the time of the beginning of the action, then you should say last night.

@Ahmed-Eid: You don't always need from with until.
You can say "it was raining until last night", "I was unhappy until you arrived", etc.

有點不自然
A more natural way to say it would be:
Because of the snow last night, it took me about an hour and a half to walk but usually it takes half an hour by bike. According to the evening news, it was the heaviest snowfall in the past few years.

I'm not sure why people want to introduce "last night". That would change the meaning.
Because snow fell until this morning... (or because of the snow that fell...) just means it snowed until this morning.
It may have been snowing for seven weeks. : )

we do not have to use last night but if we're going to use until, we have to mention the time of the beginning of the action. That's the point you should take it in your consideration because if you did not mention the time of the beginning of the action, the meaning of the sentence would still be not complete.

有點不自然
@Igirisujin saying "because of the snow last night" doesn't exclude it from having been snowing for seven weeks. "..until this morning" is just a little clunky.
You could actually lose that part altogether and say, "Because of the snow...".
If you wanted to emphasise that it was snowing up until this morning but it isn't anymore, I'd say something like, "because of the snow that only stopped this morning.."
