どういたしまして。
Yeah, you're right about your suspicion. XD
"I believe in God" can mean many things, not just "existence" or "can help me", depends on the context.
It could also mean you believe He is powerful to save, or whatever attribute, character, etc.
"I believe in God"=
"I believe in God's power to save."
"I believe in God's existence."
"I believe in God's promise."
"I believe in God's faithfulness."
Etc...
It depends on what you're talking about/is happening.

THIS:
"Believing in someone" really means you "put/have faith in them", that's the term!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope this gives you a much clearer picture.
*Hugs you back* XD
ありがとう for the hug~
"Believe in God" means you believe in His existence, power, attributes, character.
"Believe God" means you believe what God says/does.
A: "I don't think you're going to make it."
B: "No, I believe in God. He will help me."
.....
A: "I don't think you're going to make it."
B: "No, God said He will help me and I believe God."
or "No, I believe God when He said He will help me."
This "Believe music" doesn't make much sense.
You usually use "believe" when you refer to a person/living things.
Thank you very much!! Can I ask you a little bit more? Why don't you clearly say "I believe the existane of god" or "I believe xxx of god"? When someone say just "I believe in god", how can you guess what he really believe in god? How about this? When someone says "I believe in you", what exactly does he believe in you?? In other words, what is really believed?? That is very vague. In other word, what do you believe? Do I make sense?
@KKMM:
"I believe in you" means "I know you can do it."
"Believe in you":
Let's say the person thinks he is not smart.
They'll say, "I don't believe in myself." (I don't believe that I can be smart enough).
If you want to encourage him you can say, "I believe in you!" (You may not believe that you can do it, but I believe in what is in you.)
Ex:
A: "I don't think I'm smart enough to pass this exam."
B: "Nonsense, I know you can do it. I believe in you."
(I know you will be able to pass the exam.)
......
You can say "I believe xxx of God" too, but sometimes if you already know what is being talked about/or what is happening you don't need to say all the details. It should already be understood.
Ex:
A: "Hah! Your God can't save you from this trouble!"
B: "No, I believe in God." (I believe that God will help me.)
Hope I make sense. XD
Big thaaaaaaks! Now I understand. Your last comment " if you already know what is being talked about/or what is happening you don't need to say all the details. It should already be understood." is exactly what I wanted. I seeeee! So, depending on the situation, "I believe in god" means "I believe that God will help me". Very clear explanation. Thank you!!! All the Japanese people reply that "believe in god" means "believe the existence of god". But I have been very suspicious about it. Let me give you a big hug!!!
