Always try to find something you have in common. It could be music, art, movies, food etc. It could be anything. Once you find something, it becomes fairly easy to talk, it's as if you already know another. Even if you don't have much in common, the process of exploring can also be very interesting. I don't know if this applies in Asia, but in the US, most people love to talk about themselves. So, you could ask questions, what are her hobbies, favorite subjects etc. Try to get her talking about what interests HER, then listen.
