@Ri-na So, "my mind went blank" or "I blanked" means that for a moment your mind was empty.
We don't say "skipped a beat" for this situation. "My heart skipped a beat" means you had a moment of excitement, a surprise or something. It could be good or bad.
"When I saw all the penguins my heart skipped a beat!"
But it also literally means to miss out a beat, so you could say it for anything with beats (like music or poetry, or perhaps something else rhythmic). If I played something wrong I might say that.

What kind of beat are you thinking of? Is it related to your "blanked" question?
We would say "My heart skipped a beat", or "I skipped a beat (in some music for example)".
