地産地消も結構だが、問題は長引く不況の中、少しでも安く買い物をしたいと考える人が大多数ということだ。
Local production for local consumption sounds nice, but the focus should be on the fact that there are so many people who want to buy their goods at a bargain even for just a bit in the prolonged recession. 聼起來自然嗎?

@Equies “Just a bit” would be ok if your reader understands that it means MONEY. That's the reason I asked if you meant just a bit of TIME, because your sentence could be read either way. If you want to use that phrase, then you could say “just a bit of money”.

Local production for local consumption sounds nice, but the focus should be on the fact that there are so many people who want to buy their goods at a bargain — This part of the sentence sounds natural and correct.
... even for just a bit in the prolonged recession. — This is not clear. “just a bit”: do you mean just a short time? just a small amount of money?
