The only point I'll make is that most native speakers would likely add the word "but" immediately after the comma. However, the sentence is understandable as it is to me. But I see from the other comment that the "but" might be mandatory for others.

"It would be so wise not to judge things by their appearance" is fine, I'm not sure what you mean by, "horribly I do"
