This is so detailed so I guess you already know that Root of this word is from Pali (lots of Thai words are from Pali/Sanskrit). I did some research and found as following:
เลขานุการ = เลขา + อนุการ
อนุการ = อนุ + การ
อนุ means sub-, followed, after
การ means act, action (prefix for noun of the action)
อนุการ means patterning, imitation
So เลขานุการ can literally mean an imitation of writing.
