You can say: "I had a 20 years old car." But not (...for 20 year old)

The word “old” is an adjective used to describe the object, in this case “the car” so it conflicts with the use of “for” which is used to describe the verb have.
Sentence 1 is perfect:
“I had a car that was 20 years old”.
It expresses:
I had a car + the car was 20 years old.
It’s redundant, we don’t need to say “car” twice. So we use “that” and add the clause. It becomes a more efficient sentence.
The second sentence can’t be broken down in the same way.
I had a car for 20 years old.
I had a car + 20 years old?
“for” can be used for length or duration of time.
“I had a car for 20 years.” Is okay. It describes
the length you “had the car” but not “how old the car is”.

@Tony_O I talked with an English native speaker and he spoke as the second sentence. And he added. 'The car is 20 years old.' So I was wondering if I could use 'for' in this case. I realized after I checked 'you and @RValente' explanation. It just seems like an english native speaker's mistake. Thank you for your help :)
