Q1) “if we get accountability from others” does not sound right to my ears. If I were to rephrase it: “if we are held accountable by others”.

Q2) also a poor choice of words. I’d say: “don’t settle for being unhappy” or “you have to push yourself” or “you have to lift yourself up by your own bootstraps” or “you have to get yourself together and act” or (slang, 女性が口にしない言葉だと思いますが) “you have to get your shit together and do something”.

恐らく日本語にそのまま翻訳できないと思うので一つの状況を上げてみますね。

例えば、私にはやり遂げたい仕事や達成したい目標があるとします。その事を周りの人が前もって知っていたとして、もし私が努力を惜しんで失敗したら彼らは必ず「それは良くないよ！」などと私に言ってくるはずですよね。だからそれを避けるためにも前もって自分の目標を周りの人に宣言しておけば、やる気、モチベーションが上がり成功する確率も必然的に上がってくると筆者は伝えたいんだと思います。 = You are more likely to stay on track if you’re held accountable by others.
