Uh, I'm not asking about "let me". I'm wondering if I can use the structure "can I or can't I?" to ask. (thank you for the answers though)

If I say "Is it A or is it not A?", you can't say yes because you're saying yes to "it's A" and "it's not A" at the same time. You can't say no either for the same reason. So what I'm really wondering is whether I should avoid using this structure and whether there's a better way.
