I said "touche" to a kid but he didnt seem to understand. I thought that French(i mean, loan word from France) would be used nationwidely in the US like bon appetit

is there many English speakers who dont know what it stands for?

I think most Americans would understand touche. Was this verbally, or in writing? Also, what did he say before you said touche? I might say "touche" after someone has made a good point about something, kind of like, "you're right" or "that's true", "that's a good point".

@vz9002 I said do not be picky with food but I was also picking out a little and he pointed it out. so i said touche. he chuckled but it looked uncomfortable a little bit(but he wasnt offended for sure)

im assuming it was just that he was too young to know what touche means??
