The United Kingdom (UK) comprises of 4 countries (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). So people who come from any of these 4 countries can be considered as British citizens in the UK. Although the Republic of Ireland is independent, they are located within the British Isles

Great Britain is the name of the island (so doesn't include Northern Ireland or other islands, which are part of the UK)

Note however that "Team GB", where the "GB" means "Great Britain", competes in the Olympics - but includes athletes from Northern Ireland which isn't part of Great Britain. The Irish rugby team in the current Rugby World Cup includes players from both Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Don't ask about the Isle of Man or the Channel Isles, it'll make your head spin....

England is England, Britain or Great Britain is comprised of England, Wales and Scotland, United Kingdom is made up of England, Wales, Scotland AND Northern Ireland.
