Yeah, there isn’t much of a difference in English. “Cheapest” could potentially mean low quality, while “least expensive” could mean the price is low compared to other prices; but really, there isn’t a difference between the two in English. @yuri128

They both mean basically the same thing. “Cheapest” is just less words.
You could say “this shirt is the cheapest,” or “this shirt is the least expensive” and it would mean the same thing

@97zboy Thank you. So, you would use both about something cheap (like a toothbrush) and something expensive (like a sport car) in the same way?
- 英語 (美國)
You could say “this toothbrush is the cheapest/least expensive” or you could say the opposite: “this toothbrush is the most expensive.” It just depends on the price of the other toothbrushes.
As for a sports car, you could say “this sports car is the least expensive/cheapest” or you could say, “this sports car is the most expensive.” Once again, it just depends on the price of the other sports cars.
You could even compare the toothbrush and the sports car: “This toothbrush is the least expensive, and this sports car is the most expensive.”
But those are the basic structures of those sentences.

@97zboy Thank you. I understant what you say, but I thought there may be differences between them in the focus. In Japanese, when you say "the cheapest," your focus is placed on how cheap it is. When you say "the least expensive," your focus is placed on how not expensive it is. But maybe it's different in English.
