I had called a friend Anna for a long time, but I noticed someone called her Hanna. I asked about her name and learnt that her name is actually Hanna. However, I mistakenly called her Anna again. I said "sorry" and this sentence.

You could say 'it may take me a while...'. Either way is correct, but this makes it sound a little more personal (like you're going to try to do it).
