The last book that I read was 'Bauhaus übungsbuch'. (Adding that makes it sound more proper, but either is understandable)

When I went to the original Bauhaus exhibition in Berlin, I bought a book because the Bauhaus education method was interesting.
^ this is perfectly correct!

The most memorable phrase in this book was 'Learning by Doing'. (A word is a single segment, a sentence is a lot of words with a period, and a phrase/saying is just a group of words, like an idiom)

All the 'übungs' held at Bauhaus were not sitting and thinking, but learning through activities. (Active activities seems redundant, you can just say ‘activities’ or say they were ‘actively learning’)
