In my hometown, our dialect has only four tones, but with local tunes. I tried to learn Cantonese when I was small. They have 9 tones&6tunes. Didn't have much good sources at time. But got a few sense anyway.

广州话号称9个调实际上是六个。不是多了入声的三个调，而是入声缺了三个调。所谓入声，完全是不同的一个拼音，不论是读音还是写法。多出一个声调确实是一个很痛苦的问题，不是发不出这个调来，而是根本就不知道（或懒得记）发那个调。我家乡话是广东阳江话，只有五（八）个调，上声也是合并了的，史和市是同一个调子。我在广州生活了三四十年，也发不出它们的区别，好在也没有什么人在意。那些以前只有四个声调，比如客家话的人讲起广州话来更容易听得出来，不过都不影响交流。
我的实际做法就是不管它，又不是做播音员，因此我的广州话一直只有五个调。

有专门的书籍学习广东话，广东话不止四个调。

多听听别人的发音，其实学起来不会太难，毕竟是国内的语言。^ ^

@ninuno888 I had suspected that so it makes me wonder how do they understand each other if sometimes tones are not correct
