@kk24acb I tend to use 'I don't really want to go' for plans that I've already made, for example an event like a concert or party. I tend to use 'I'd rather not go' for plans that I haven't committed to yet. Hope this is helpful!

i don't really want to go means that you personally don't want to go to that place ! it's straight forward and clear that you do not want to go to that place
EX : i really don't want to go to the beach ! i want to stay home
i'd rather not go have the meaning of "it would be better if i don't go" the reason might be your own feelings or something else, it is much more soft and gentle, but it might be understood as if there is something wrong with the place if you're tone is wrong
EX : the mall is too crowded, i'd rather not go
You're girlfriend is coming ? then i'd rather not go
