@cavefundoo 'Throw away' is not the same as 'away' by itself. It means to discard remove by throwing it.
example: he threw away his trash.
meaning: he discarded his trash
idk if this helps but throw away basically means 'jogar fora'

Away means to or at a distance from a person, place or thing. "She's away for summer vacation."
Out can mean many things, depending on context, but in this situation, Out can mean situated far at a distance from somewhere. "The barn is out in the middle of no where"
Usually out is used when talking about places, while away is usually used when talking about people/objects.

The for in this sentence can mean multiple things:
1. Used to specify a period of time while away
(Example: He is away for two weeks)

ie. it basically means
he is [away] [preposition for time] + [amount of time]
