@volchkoff There’s not much difference! Where I live (South England) they’re both used.
Usually “ask a favour” will be more like “can I ask a favour of you?”
And “ask for a favour” is “can I ask for a favour from you?” but you can also just say “Can I ask for a favour?”
The first one just sounds more formal to me! Usually I’ll say “can I ask for a favour?” :)
