Caught off guard by the 2020 pandemic, like many of our colleagues, we have come to reconsider our methods. This has also led us to rediscover the potential of telecollaboration solutions in translation programs. Among young students of different origins and languages, we sought to adjust our practices through oral online presentations, supplemented by written feedback from the class, on a openeditor. We thus optimized student engagement, eased by the distance and the synchronous mode of our videoconferencing courses. To captivate our audience, we chose an Ivorian comic book : Aya de Yopougon. Despite the peculiarities of African French, the graphics provided a context that allowed our learners to better understand the plot, facilitated their access to cultural implications, and thus favored the co-translation of this comic. Collaborative written contributions have not only made it possible to bridge the distance between us, but also to increase solutions and fruitful creativity. During the confinement of the first semester, these written exchanges between pairs strengthened their engagement from afar. The conciseness of the Korean language may have forced us to make a selective translation. The multilingual context (a third of Chinese learners) also made it possible to highlight the difficulties of translating from one language to another, in particular with regard to the syntactic order.

Wow that was really good!!! The only thing I can think of is that the transition between these two sentences: "During the confinement of the first semester, these written exchanges between pairs strengthened their engagement from afar. The conciseness of the Korean language may have forced us to make a selective translation." seems very abrupt. This could definitely just be because I don't understand the full context of the text. But you could make a transition between them to make the paragraph flow more.

Pris au dépourvu comme beaucoup de nos collègues par la crise sanitaire de 2020, nous avons été amenés à réinventer, à repenser nos pratiques, ce qui nous a permis de découvrir incidemment l’intérêt de solutions télécollaboratives utiles à la formation en traduction. Dans ce contexte pandémique et face à des apprentis traducteurs de langues maternelles différentes, nous avons cherché à maintenir notre pratique, par des exposés oraux en ligne, commentés et complétés par des retours écrits de toute la classe sur un éditeur mutualisé. Nous avons ainsi optimisé l’engagement des élèves, favorisé à la fois par la désinhibition qu’engendre l’écran et le mode synchrone de nos cours par visioconférence. Pour captiver notre auditoire, nous avons choisi une bande dessinée africaine, Aya de Yopougon. Nonobstant les difficultés propres à l’oralité du français ivoirien, à ses particularismes, les images et le contexte situationnel ont permis à nos apprenants de mieux comprendre l’intrigue, leur ont facilité l’accès aux implicites culturels, et ainsi favorisé la co-traduction de cette bande dessinée. Les contributions écrites collaboratives ont non seulement permis de renforcer « la présence à distance », mais aussi de multiplier les solutions, et ainsi contribué à une fructueuse créativité. Lors du confinement du premier semestre, ces échanges écrits entre pairs ont encouragé leur engagement à distance. Le contexte multilingue (un tiers d’apprenants sinophones) a permis de plus de mettre en lumière des difficultés différentes d’une langue à l’autre, notamment liées à l’ordre syntaxique. La concision du coréen a pu obliger parfois à recourir, non pas à la traduction sélective (comme en TAV), mais à l’étoffement.
