@Agnes_oaycp6MAD4h7FM I think you understand it perfectly. The choice of "does" seems wrong, both in the original and in your accurate simplification. It seems to me that "is" would be much better than "does". Perhaps it's a typo?

I don't know a lot of the technical jargon in that sentence, but it would sound better to me to say:
The law of diminishing returns is a recipe for the upward sloping MSC, as is/ and so is the law of marginal utility for the downward sloping MSB.
A IS a recipe for B, as IS / and so IS C for D
The verb should be the same when you repeat.
