People usually tend to be fairly expert in many different skills. I think this is because of human's innate tendency to being limitless. Although the idea of being expert in many different skills may appear to be attractive at the first glance, I disagree that people who develop many different skills are more successful than people who focus on one skill only. In the next paragraphs, I explain why I think so.
Focusing on one skill causes one to become more expert than who tries out different skills, because the lifetime is limited. people who spend their time on many different activities are unlikely to become professional. On the other hand, there is no opportunity for ameture people to take a good job. For example, a friend of mine named Ali likes to travel very much. Since he is always involved in working part-time during his long trips, he has gained many skills like photography and translation. However, he alway is faced with financial troubles, because he is not professional enough in none of those skills and consequently is not hired where have good pay.
Becoming expert in a single area is also beneficial regarding the self-confidence. people who try to obtain different skills usully lack self-confidence when facing with an expert in the area in which they have tried it out.
Finally, Focusing on one skill gives us the opportunity to show more creativiey in our professional life. This is because when we focus on a single skill for a relatively long time, we completely become familiar with the different aspects of that skill and therefore can more easily recognize how we can improve ourselves on it and how to become an exceptional expert.
