They mean the same thing, but “capture” usually means the thing is physically trapped and can’t leave. “Catch” can mean physically trapping something, or making something feel metaphorically stuck, like they don’t have any options.
“Catch” = present tense
“Caught” (pronounced like “cot”) = past tense
Ex:
“The police captured the criminal.” = the police arrested the criminal and locked him up. The criminal is in handcuffs or jail now, and can’t move.
“I want to capture a rabbit.” = I want to trap a rabbit in a cage.
“I caught a rabbit.” = I trapped a rabbit.
“The police caught the criminal.” = The police captured the criminal.
“My friend caught me doing something bad.” = I was doing something bad and my friend discovered it, now I don’t know what to do, I feel trapped in a bad situation.
