- 英語 (美國)
Don't cause me false illusions by... Don't deceive me by...
I've never heard of the word illusionate, although it seems like it could be a words following the logic behind the structure of the word. I haven't found it in a dictionary.

The closest word to "illusionate" might be "beguile" which means to deceive through charm or flattery (false compliments).
"Don't beguile me by giving me false hopes."
You could also use "delude," "misguide," or "mislead," which sound more natural in a sentence but lose some of the meaning you are going for.

@C_Sunberg@LivingNexus how about this.
*don't delusion me with false hopes.
*don't excite me with false hopes.
*don't delusion me with false hopes.
*don't excite me with false hopes.

Yup those would work, but delude instead of delusion so it's a verb. Delude was actually one of the words I was going to suggest.

That's totally okay. Yup delude is a verb. Delusion is a noun. Deluded is the adjective version. Usually delusion implies some sort of willingly held belief.

@C_Sunberg so can I say.
*he deluded me.
*stop deluding me
*he used delusions to deceived her.
*he used delusions to brainwash you.

Yup. You could also say "he is deluded" using it as a state of being.

Yeah it is kind of confusing because "deluded" is the past tense of "delude," but it can also be an adjective.
He is deluded. That is a full sentence using deluded as an adjective. It basically means he believes something that is not true. It is a pretty handy use of the word so I thought I should makr you aware of it. I would say it is also the most common way the word is used.
I can see how it is confusing though, because "he was deluded by his teacher," is the past tense of the verb delude but it is spelled the same.
