There are some times when the two words can be used interchangeably, like here:
〇 "I didn't have any other choice."
〇 "I didn't have any other option."
Both of those sentences are okay, but other times, only one of the words is preferred. For example:
〇 "You have three options: chicken, beef, or pork."
△ "You have three choices: chicken, beef, or pork"
For the above sentences, "three choices" is understandable, but it feels a little strange. You are only making ONE *choice* when you pick from THREE different *options.*
〇 "Now is the time to make your choice."
× "Now is the time to make your option."
For the above sentences, only the first sentence is correct, the second one is unnatural. You can say "make a choice," but you can't say "make an option."
