Does it make sense when somebody says “selected of the selected”?
I intend to use this that comes from the saying, “best of the best”. I am guessing that this format works too with selected individual among selected from the group.

It sounds weird at first. It's hard to say whether it works or not without understanding all the nuances of the context. I'm not sure "selected" is the right word to begin with -- what are the criteria used for it? Maybe "chosen" is better?

"Best choice" would also suffice in my opinion.

Best choice doesn’t seem to suffice what I intend to say.
For example, valedictorian is one. This is a one selected among selected. If you watch Attack on titan, the best example would be “scout regiment”. Character in the anime describe this group as “精鋭中の精鋭” in Japanese. Sorry if I don’t make you understand.

@Yo_Nishimura If you want to give it a positive connotation like "the best of the best", then you should go with "the chosen among the chosen". "Selected" doesn't work here.
