When I was 4th year university student, I had to do practice teaching for 3 weeks. The school I had to go to was famous for being a difficult school. I didn’t want to be assigned to a class between the 3rd and the 6th grade, because If I was, I had to teach English at least one time. More importantly, I would have to do it in only English, so I was panicked. However, I did end up being assigned to one of these classes. My English class was scheduled for the last day of my practice teaching, so I was able to prepare for it for over 3 weeks.
Of course, I had to prepare for other classes as well, but I was not confident with my English, so I figured that I needed to spend as much time as possible preparing for it. Whenever I had free time, I prepared for it. I made several English sentences that I would have to use during the class, and I also communicated with a native teacher. I thought it was so difficult. Actually, I could barely understand anything the teacher said. I just said, “Ok” each time. On the day of the class, as soon as it started, I forgot all of the sentences that I had prepared. The native teacher ended up teaching for most of the class. I think the teacher understood perfectly what he wanted to say, so the students were also able to easily understand and learn. I couldn’t remember what I wanted to say, so I couldn’t do it. After that day, I realized that I had to study English harder. So for now, I have been studying English on my own. I don’t know when I’ll be able to talk freely with a native speaker, but if I do my best, I think I’ll be able to someday.
