I believe that using genetically modified crops is beneficial for human society overall. I know there’s a lot of skepticism, but I think GMOs will be very useful for the future of humans. Here are the reasons why I think so.



First of all, the GMOs will be helpful for the deficiency of foods around the world. The human population is expected to reach around 10 billion by 2050. According to experts, agricultural production we need will increase over 70% in the future. GMOs can help address the problem with genetic engineering to improve crop yields. It is said that GMOs crops have raised the output of corn, cotton and soy by 20 to 30 percent.



Secondly, GMOs have been proven safe through testing and use. Over the past 30 years, there has not been a single health risk associated with GMOs consumption. Over 2000 global studies have affirmed the safety of GM crops. What is more, GM crops can reduce natural toxins, making them safer and healthier.



Lastly, by reducing pesticide use, GM crops have good effects on the environmental issues. Genetically modified, insect-protected crops have achieved significant environmental benefits by reducing pesticide use and greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, GMOs have reduced pesticide spraying by 8.1 percent.



For the reasons mentioned above, banning genetically modified crops has not make a sense. As its safety is already guaranteed, the use of genetically modified crops is both necessary and justifiable.
