“I might just as well have stayed at home.”
and
“I’d rather have stayed at home.”

Yes I can explain the difference. The first sentence is implying that by not staying at home you wasted your time because by leaving home you did not accomplish your goal. If someone invited you to dinner and then at dinner stayed on his phone and ignored you, you would say “I might just as well have stayed (at) home” because it would not have made any difference to the quality of the experience. In the second sentence “I’d rather have stayed at home” this means that you knew in advance that leaving home was not going to be as enjoyable as staying at home but you were obligated to go out.
