Continuous applies to one thing.
Contiguous refers to two or more things that touch each other. Example: the United States has 50 states, but only 48 states are contiguous.

The former is usually used with non-physical things, often time, or with an analogy to that in mind. E.g. "My day consisted of one, continuous meeting.". Or "I knitted this out of a single continuous piece of string.".
The latter typically refers to things that are spatially uninterrupted. For instance, the 48 US states that are not Alaska or Hawaii are called the Contiguous United States. That is because you can travel between any of those states without having to cross an international border or the sea.

Two countries can be contiguous if they share a common border. Things in as series can be contiguous, for example, words in a dictionary.
