No, I don’t hear it. But that may just be because you don’t speak English natively, and your ears are processing the sentence faster than your brain.

Something similar happens to me with Spanish. When I hear “como/cómo”, my brain tries to quickly figure out if the person is saying like, how, or I eat because they all sound the same to me. Sometimes, I guess wrong because I don’t fully understand what the speaker is saying, and my brain and ears aren’t used to this language.

It is normal. And if you get it wrong, it’s okay. You’re not broken, you’re progressing. It’s good that you’re able to recognize your mistake. As you get more fluent, you’ll begin to hear that those phrases sound very different.

Certain accents can also affect the way you hear things if you’re not used to them. You just have to get used to them.
