the same difference between 'anything' and 'something'.
'any' gives a much wider range of possibility, as 'any' basically means 'without restriction'.
(though parameters can be added, eg: "it could have been anyone /who was at the party/"). anybody is used when making a more general statement.
'some' has more of a restriction, and implies the pool of answers is smaller. 'someone/somebody' is also used as a place holder for a person you can't specify.
somebody is used when making slightly more direct statements.
eg:
- /someone/ stole my wallet.
(aka /a person/ stole my wallet.)
• oh, where were you? maybe you could call the police.
- i was in town, so it could have been anybody.
OR "it could have been anybody /who was there/"
"i am somebody who likes apples"
(here 'somebody' is being used as a tool for description. you could say "i like apples" and it would have exactly the same meaning. you couldnt do this with 'anybody')
~ i left my phone downstairs and it got smashed.
- it could have been anyone in the room.
• it could have been someone in the room (perhaps)?
the difference between the two sentences above is that the first one is just making a general statement, and the second one seems to be reaching for a conclusion. the first one gives off a nuance of hopelessness almost, as if 'it could have been anybody', so theres no way to get an answer.
the second sentence almost sounds like an answer in itself. theres almost an unspoken question mark at the end of the second sentence.
- is anybody here a doctor?
• is somebody here a doctor?
the first one is more natural because you're talking to a range of people. you will see the second one used though, probably.
i hope this helped and didnt just confuse the heck out of you!! if you need any clarifications i'd be happy to oblige :)

@ko-ta In English we sometimes use these to mean both, but technically they're slightly different:
Anyone = any person
Anybody = any person within a group, usually used in questions
Someone = some person (as in a random person, no one you know)
Somebody = one or some person who you don't know, also unknown.
That's how they are defined, but again we sometimes use these words to mean the same thing: no specific person, just a person in general.
