In this context, comparing "the job relating to my college major" and "the job related to my college major", they mean the same thing.
But they often mean different things. "Relate to" means having things in common and therefore being a good match (between people it means you understand the other person because you have things in common). "To be related to" means you are family (between people), or, symbolically "family" between things.

This is tricky to answer. I feel there is a difference, but it is subtle.
I think that "(to) relate to" often suggests that it will have some effect on the other thing, or be relevant in the context of the other thing (e.g. the job will actually help you with your college major, or be important when talking about your college major, etc).
"(to be) related to" just says more generally that it is similar to it or associated with it in some way (the job is similar to your college major, but may not actually have any effect on it).
