Hmm well they are basically the same, although we will habitually use them a little differently.
"pick" is the most casual sounding one. "pick" can mean "select/choose" but it also has the meaning of physically touching something to take it.
"I picked the flowers" usually means: "I used my hands to pull some flowers out of the ground" but it *can* mean "I chose the flowers" (like "I chose the purple flowers for my mom")
We can also use "pick" for just repeatedly touching something with your fingers. "Don't pick your nose!" means "Don't put your finger in your nose and move it around" lol. "Stop picking at your bandage" = "Stop touching your bandages".
If you look up the word "pluck" it has a kind of similar meaning to this use of "pick". You can "pick" or "pluck" flowers, and you can also "pick" or "pluck" guitar strings. That little plastic thing you can play guitar with is called a "pick" and the sharp tool for mining rocks/minerals is also called a "pick". So "picking" can involve a lot of touching, either repetitive touching or touching something to remove something.
"choosing" and "selecting" are pretty similar. I feel like there is not a big difference between them. "Picking" is also pretty similar when you're using it for this meaning.
"I didn't get picked for the soccer team" "I didn't get chosen for the soccer team" "I didn't get selected for the soccer team"...Honestly, these sound like 99% the same to me lol. "picked" feels a little more casual and "selected" feels slightly more formal but it's only a slight difference in my opinion.
Teacher: Who wants to play this game?
Students: *raising hands* Ohh!!! Pick me! Pick me!! Pick me!!!
^ It is hard for me to imagine kids saying "Select me!!!" in this situation. It feels too formal.
You will probably hear the word "select" more often in the context of using technology or purchasing things. You might select different settings on an electronic device or select certain items for your online shopping. Of course you can say "pick" or "choose" for these but this is the situation where I imagine "select" will appear more often.
You might one day hear the phrase: "You can't pick and choose." This is a common English phrase. When you see this phrase it is just meant as a criticism of people who are really "picky" (meaning they don't just take what is available and they feel like they can choose what they personally want even when it's not appropriate to do that). It's kind of a funny phrase imo because "pick" and "choose" don't have a different meaning here so it's like you're repeating the same idea twice basically. But it just means "don't be picky" or "you don't have the right to pick/choose your favorite options in this situation".
