I realized I could no longer stay in my present location, hoping quite against logic that she might come back.

What is "hoping quite against logic that she might come back"? Is it 'not having false hope that she might come back"? 是什麼意思

Correct. This means "hoping for something illogical".

@gadgeteer Right. "quite" meaning "somewhat". So, "Somewhat against logic." "Somewhat illogical".

"Quite against good judgement" would mean "With somewhat bad judgement."

I think you should try paying attention especially to how and when the word "quite" is used. It sort of has a style to it.
