This sentence is somewhat poorly written, and contains a couple grammatical errors.
It was obviously written by a native speaker, but I'm guessing they hammered it out haphazardly and didn't bother to read over it afterward.

I think they meant to say "the model of writing as *a form of* technologically augmented thinking"

...and that they meant to say "a pre-modern boon that's achieved *and* further accelerated"
