What would be the main difference between "walk away" and "stray away"? (I'm having a hard time trying to figure out the second one). Would you use them interchangeably? If not, what would be the most common scenario for each one?

They are not interchangeable
Stray away is not a phrase we use. Do you have a sentence? We do use the verb “to stray”. It means to wander away or digress from a topic.
The news anchor tried unsuccessfully to prevent his guest from straying from the topic being discussed.
Tourists often get lost and stray into dangerous areas.
Walk away is simply to leave someone’s presence.
After we finished our conversation he walked away.

@newenglandgenie hi there! Oh gotcha! Thank you so much! It matches perfectly with what I came across. The sentence was: "but human beings have strayed away from that animal instinct that we used to use to survive". So having read your answer, I now think of it like "wander away" do you agree with that?
- 英語 (美國)
Yes, in this instance stray away means to move away from animal instincts.
It’s the verb “stray” with the prepositional phrase “away from”

@newenglandgenie by the way, I just realised that I've also come across "stray dog". So what would be the difference between "stray dogs" and "street dogs"? Maybe the word "stray" implies that the animal is lost and can't find its previous "home"?
- 英語 (美國)
Stray dogs are homeless dogs. Street dogs can be dogs that do have homes but spend their days on the streets.
