I still get confused with the verb for "to hurt, or injure" and this is on a flashcard again today. Meaning "Tom fell and hurt (injured) his hand." But the verb נפצע, when I look it up, shows as possibly two different verbs. Can someone help me with this please? Thanks. I guess what I'm asking is the verb for "to injure" and "to be injured."

נפצע is passive, meaning he got injured. What other verb do you get?
בידו indicates where he got injured.
It's like saying: Tom received an injury to his hand.
You can say it in active form: טום פצע את ידו.
Here it's more like: Tom hurt his hand.
But it may sound like he did it on purpose, context usually clears it up.

So what the sentence is saying is that Tom fell and in doing so his hand got hurt. Or like you wrote, he recieved an injury to his hand. Got it.
When I type in נפצע in Pealim I get either this: לִפְצוֹעַ which it says means to wound, injure.
Or I get this one which gives two versions
לְהִפָּצֵעַ lehipatzea or לְהִפָּצַע lehipatza meaning to be injured

The problem with Nifal binyanim, is that without nikkud they look exactly like plural future tense of Paal binyan. But Nifal is passive, and Paal is active. Thus the confusion of the dictionary in your case.
For example the word נשלח. It could be past of להישלח or future of לשלוח. First one being To be sent, while the second is To send.
לְהִפָּצֵעַ and לְהִפָּצַע are the same verbs with different pronunciations. But these days we use only the second one - lehipatza.

@L1arK Got it. When I get two choices sometimes it is very confusing because I never know which one is really used. So in conclusion לִפְצוֹעַ would mean something active. Like I hurt or injured myself, or someone else. And לְהִפָּצַע means something cause an injury or hurt.
I hope I have this correct. Thanks as always for your help on this.

Not exactly.
LIFTZO'A is the active form. We use this when we want to say that a subject causes the injury or the hurt to someone else.
i.g. I hurt him OR he's going to hurt himself OR don't hurt her, and so on.
אני פצעתי אותו / אל תפצע אותה
LEHIPATZA is the passive form. We use this to say that someone got injured or was hurt.
i.g. I was hurt OR he'll be injured, and so on.
נפצעתי / הוא ייפצע
The same is as for plural. Just don't forget you conjugate it right.
